Toyota Serves as Presenting Sponsor of the 41st Fiesta DC Festival Latino 2012

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Sept. 23, 2012) — Toyota today served as the presenting sponsor of the District of Columbia’s largest Latino Festival— Fiesta DC – further demonstrating its commitment to the Latino community. With more than 100,000 attendees, Fiesta DC featured five stages incorporating music, folklore, theater, and other performing arts. In addition, the event included a Children’s Festival, a Science Fair, a Community-Based Organization Information Fair, a Diplomatic Pavilion for embassies and consulates and sections for arts & crafts, public information and international cuisine. This flagship event brought together community leaders, social media and technology influencers, educators, government officials and others to celebrate the contributions of the U.S. Latino community.

As the exclusive automotive sponsor, Toyota engaged participants with activities aimed to showcase its revolutionary safety program for Hispanic families, Buckle-Up for Life (BUFL), and displayed some of the best-selling Toyota models in the Hispanic market.

Other Toyota activities included:

  • an interactive photo booth providing official photos for Fiesta DC;
  • seat belt and child car seat safety information and giveaways;
  • and opportunities to interact with the popular Toyota RAV4 and Camry.

Toyota also is kicking off Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 to October 15) with the launch of @ToyotaLatino on Twitter. The new handle will provide the company opportunities to highlight and celebrate the community, engage at live events such as Fiesta DC and share more vehicle information with owners and enthusiasts.

“Fiesta DC has a 41-year history of highlighting the diversity of the Latin American culture,” said Julie Hamp, Toyota’s North American chief communications officer. “Toyota is honored to celebrate this event and Latino heritage during Hispanic Heritage Month and beyond.”

Since 2004, Toyota has been the leading automotive brand among the U.S. Latino community. Data indicates nearly one of six Latino buyers choose a Toyota when purchasing a car or truck, the highest of any brand.  Toyota brands make up more than half of all U.S. hybrid purchases by Latinos.

Toyota Sunnyvale Thanks This Great Customer for the Five Stars on Yelp

"We bought a 2012 toyota Venza V6 at toyota sunnyvale. At first it was a hard decision because my wife and I were deciding if we want to get a RAV4 or a Venza. Zenia Padua was very helpful when we made that decision. She gave us a very insightful advise when it comes to all the amenities, practicality,  getting the best deal, and most importantly affordable car that my wife and I will buy. At the end of the day we were able to get the Venza and drive it home with no regrets and knowing that we received the best deal in town. Trust me I did my research first before we bought the car. Especially, knowing that buying a new car is another expenses for the next 3-5years. RAV4 is a really nice car but my wife and I ended up driving a Venza at the end of the day.  Zenia was very prompt and gave us a "hassle free" and "no worries" environment experience when we were in Sunnyvale toyota. Toyota sending RAV4 EV on Charge-to-Charge Tour of California

"Anyone who's California Dreamin' about test-driving the battery-electric version of the Toyota RAV4 can now get their chance.

The Japanese automaker is taking the EV on a tour of the Golden State with its Charge-to-Charge Tour, complete with a web series hosted by Treehugger founder Graham Hill.

The tour started this past weekend in Richmond, just across the bay from San Francisco, and will work its way south through the end of the month. The RAV4 will be exhibited at events such as 40th Annual EAA Electric Vehicle Rally and Show in Cupertino before finishing up at the AltCar Expo in Santa Monica, which takes place at the end of next week, September 28-29.

Last week, Toyota outlined its loan and lease options while disclosing that the EPA put a single-charge range rating of 103 miles on the Vehicle. The Japanese automaker, which will start sales of the model at some California dealers starting next week, will offer a 36-month lease option for $599 a month with a $3,499 downpayment. For buyers, Toyota will offer an APR loan at 1.9 percent.

In May, Toyota said it would price the EV at 49,800 and would make about 2,600 of them through 2014. And late last month, Toyota released a couple videos elaborating on Toyota's work with Tesla Motors on the vehicle and on efforts to cut the RAV4 EV's wind drag as a way to help boost range."

Toyota Sales Strong In August Up 47.2% - Lexus Sales Jump 28.9%

"S.A., Inc., today reported August 2012 sales results of 188,520 units, an increase of 40.2 percent compared to the same period last year on a daily selling rate (DSR) basis. On a raw volume basis, unadjusted for 27 selling days in August 2012 compared to 26 selling days in August 2011, TMS sales were up 45.6 percent from the year-ago month.

The  Toyota Division posted total August sales of 164,283 units, an increase of 42.0 percent on a DSR basis from August 2011. On a raw volume basis, Toyota Division sales were up 47.5 percent from the year-ago month.

“The auto industry continued to outperform the general economy in August,” said Bill Fay, Toyota group vice president and general manager. “The driving force behind our growth continues to be strong consumer response to the new models we’ve launched over the past twelve months and the added value those vehicles represent.”

The Lexus Division reported total sales of 24,237 units in August 2012, up 28.9 percent from August 2011 on a DSR basis. Volume-wise, Lexus Division sales were up 33.9 percent compared to the same period last year.

“Virtually every Lexus model enjoyed a significant sales increase in August,” said Tim Morrison, Lexus vice president of sales and dealer development. “With a strong Labor Day weekend, and our newly launched products leading the way, the momentum continues into September.”

Toyota Division
Toyota Division passenger cars recorded combined monthly sales of 93,083 units, up 47.2 percent from August 2011. Passenger car sales were led by Camry and Camry Hybrid with combined sales of 36,720 units, and Corolla reported August sales of 24,311 units. The Prius family of vehicles posted August sales of 21,111 units.

Toyota Division light trucks recorded August sales of 71,200 units, an increase of 47.9 percent compared to the same month last year. Light truck sales were again led by the RAV4 compact SUV and Tacoma mid-size pickup truck, with monthly sales of 15,685 and 12,193, respectively. Highlander and Highlander Hybrid reported combined sales of 11,441 units, and the Tundra full-size pickup reported sales of 11,347 units.

Scion posted August sales of 7,722 units, up 111.6 percent on a volume basis over August 2011. The tC sports coupe led the way with sales of 2,378 units, up 113.5 percent, while the newly launched FR-S sports car reported sales of 1,913 units. The xD five-door urban subcompact posted sales of 1,004 units, and the xB urban utility vehicle posted August sales of 1,879 units. The all-new iQ premium micro-subcompact posted monthly sales of 548 units.

Lexus Division

Lexus reported passenger car sales of 14,024 units, up 35.7 percent from August 2011. The ES 350 entry luxury sedan and the first-ever ES Hybrid led Lexus passenger car sales with combined sales of 7,557 units, while the IS luxury sports sedan reported sales of 2,369 units. The CT 200h premium hybrid compact posted sales of 1,472 units.

Lexus luxury utility vehicles recorded sales of 10,213 units, up 31.4 percent over August 2011. Lexus light truck sales were led by the RX and RX Hybrid luxury utility vehicle, which posted combined August sales of 8,628 units. The GX 460 mid-size luxury utility vehicle reported sales of 1,071 units, while the LX luxury utility vehicle recorded sales of 514 units.

TMS Hybrids

TMS posted August sales of 28,960 hybrid vehicles, an increase of 110.1 percent compared to the same period last year. Toyota Division posted August sales of 25,400 hybrids, while Lexus Division reported sales of 3,560 hybrids for the month."

"I went in 9/1 (on a labor day weekend) for oil and filter change for my Toyota Camry. Paul Matsui  was my service advisor and he was super patient and friendly on a busy day. He helped me from the beginning to the end. He answered all of my questions very honestly and brought me straight to my car after service so I can skip that long pick up line!!

Brain Tang was the one who worked on my car and I'm very satisfied. The car is running much smoother!! He also did a very precise job on the inspection!!

"Let me start off by saying that I am a huge Yelper. Checked yelp reviews for Toyota in Dublin & Tracy - both 2 stars. Went and visited Dublin just for shiz and giggles and yes, it was that bad. And yes, I did review them. LOL.

Anyways, I was referred to this Toyota dealership by a friend at work and even though they have low reviews as well decided to try it out since it was a referral.

KEVIN CHEW - I called him before going down to the dealership because we had a crazy situation. I was trying to get rid of my 2002 Acura MDX and also my husbands 2007 Scion TC. MDX - owned, no balance. TC owed about 9k, worth about 9k. What we needed was a Prius, because I commute a lot and a van for my husbands work. Credit, not so good for both, had a co-signer blah blah blah. Ended up private party selling my MDX, so we brought hubbys scion in on a Friday. Got there about 5ish. Since Kevin already knew what we wanted we sat and went over stuff in his office for about 15 minutes then out to the cars. Found the white Prius C4 that I wanted and also looked at the Prius 3 which was on promotion. Took a while for me to decide which one to go with but Kevin was VERY patient with us. Decided to go with the Prius C4.

Once that was decided we started to look for a van. He took my husband to the used car dealership (down that block) now that was kind of weird, but whatever. Haha... guess that was the only lot they could probably get nearest the main dealership.... anyways, my hubby looked at some vans and found one that was a great price.... and decent condition - right in our price range.

This yelp review, very summed up, short and sweet. We were actually at the car dealership from 5pm-ish until literally 12:30am. Kevin helped us with both of our transactions and was very helpful in answering all of our questions and was very, very patient with us. We were finishing up the paperwork in the used car lot and Kevin had to go back to the new car lot to pick up my keys and car to find that he needed to pound on the door for the janitor to let him in hahahahaha.

Anyways, regarding my Prius C4 - I LOVE IT! I read some reviews and some people were knocking it saying stuff like - this car is so cheaply made, everything is so flimsy blah blah blah - well DUH. You pay for what you get. This model is the cheapest of the Prius' line. And if you want something better pay more money! Also, they probably make it lighter so the gas mileage is better. Some people were complaining that it didn't get advertised mileage - that was probably the way they were driving because I get GREAT gas mileage. Sometimes my gas mileage even goes up to 89 (rare but it happens). Yes, the glare on the navi screen makes it hard to see, but I already knew that coming in to buying the car, I just have not yet had time to tint my windows - which a review said did help. Entune is great, navi is great, and my car is pretty sporty so I am one happy camper. Her name is Kona and I love her.

She has already even had her "First Visit" to the Happiest Place on Earth! =)
